Launch Wizard

The Launch Wizard is a guided checklist for switching to Petboost. It covers importing data, picking a go-live date, telling clients, and turning the old booking system off so Petboost is the source of truth.

Updated 27 September 2026 - 8 min read

The wizard appears automatically during onboarding for businesses on a paid plan, as Launch Petboost at the top of the sidebar for owners and admins. During a trial, Launch Petboost shows a preview of the Launch Kit with Upgrade & Unlock Your Launch Kit, and the full wizard unlocks after upgrading. You can also open it directly at Launch Petboost.

How the wizard works

The wizard has nine steps, in this order: Import Data, Go-Live Date, Notify Customers, Social Media, Update Links, Account Review, Google Reviews, Appointments and Package Credits. Move between them with Next Step and Previous. Each step can be completed or skipped with Skip for now, and your progress is saved automatically.

The wizard adapts to your business and leaves out steps that are already done or not relevant:

StepLeft out when
Import DataAny pet already exists in Petboost
Notify CustomersThe going-live email is already marked as sent
Account ReviewThe review call is already booked or declined
AppointmentsAny appointment already exists in Petboost
Package CreditsYour business has no packages

Import your data

Import your customers, pets, and services so profiles are ready when customers log in to book, and so you can email or text everyone in the next step.

  1. Open Launch Petboost.
  2. On Import Your Data, select Import Customers & Pets to upload a CSV or add your existing clients and their pets.
  3. Select Review Your Services to check your services, pricing, and durations.
  4. Select I've imported my data.

The import itself also sits on Customers & Pets, as Import Customers & Pets in the page's settings menu. See Data migration.

Choose your go-live date

Pick the date you plan to switch to Petboost. About 7 days is the usual window: it gives you time to tell clients, review your transferred appointments from that date, and switch the old booking system off so new bookings are not changing in two places.

  1. Open Launch Petboost. If another step is showing, select Next Step until Choose Your Go-Live Date opens.
  2. Pick the date under Go-live date.
  3. Optional: switch on Close the diary until go-live to block every team member and resource, so customers cannot book before that date.
  4. Optional: under Add to your calendar, select Google Calendar, or Apple / Outlook to download an .ics file.
  5. Select Confirm go-live date.

If you can review your transferred appointments quickly, 24-48 hours is enough. That is the fast path, not the default: use it only when the calendar check is already moving.

When you choose the date:

  • Pick a quieter day so you have time to handle questions
  • Activate your paid plan when you pick the date. A paid plan turns on online bookings and SMS reminders
  • Email clients and post the Canva announcement before the day
  • Review your transferred appointments from this date onwards
  • On the day, turn the old booking system off for new bookings and treat Petboost as the source of truth

Notify your customers

Send a pre-written email, subject "We're upgrading our booking & payment system", to all your customers. It is personalised with your business name, go-live date, and service requirements, such as vaccination certificates or weight.

  1. Open Launch Petboost and go to Notify Your Customers.
  2. Select Copy Email Body and paste it into your own email client, or select Send via Bulk Email Tool to send it from Petboost.
  3. Optional: once your Communications Booster number is active, select Send Mass Text to text customers who might miss the email.
  4. Select I've sent the email.

Announce on social media

Announce your Petboost booking page on social media with ready-made templates.

  1. Open Launch Petboost and go to Announce on Social Media.
  2. On the Instagram Square or DL Flyer template, select Open in Canva, then clone the template, reskin it with your logo and brand colours, and post it.
  3. Optional: on Pet Owner Education Flyer, select Generate flyer for a branded A4 PDF with a QR code for your front desk.
  4. Select I've created my posts.

Pin the post to the top of your Instagram profile so new visitors see it first.

Replace your old booking links across your website, Instagram bio, Facebook page, and Google Business Profile, so customers land on Petboost when they click Book Now. On go-live, take the old booking path down so new bookings stop landing in the old system.

  1. Open Launch Petboost and go to Update Your Links.
  2. Copy Booking Page (Recommended), where visitors can browse your services, see pricing, and book.
  3. Optional: copy Direct Booking Link if you want returning clients to skip the browse page.
  4. Optional: select Build website buttons for Book now and Existing Clients buttons, or Print Window QR Code for a QR booking card for your front window, door, or counter.
  5. Select I've updated my links.

The short address of your booking page is https://pbbook.now/{your-business-name}: copy it from Quick Copy Links as Booking Page Link. The step also has tips for each platform on where to change your links.

On Google Business Profile, the booking link goes in the appointment link field, not the website field. Google treats the two separately: the appointment link is what turns on the booking action on your listing, and the website field stays your own website. If you do not have a website, point the website field at your booking page as well.

Book your account review

Schedule a free video call with the Petboost team to review your setup, get help migrating data, and ask any questions. This step is strongly recommended.

  1. Open Launch Petboost and go to Book Your Account Review.
  2. Select Book a Free Call and choose a time, or select I've already booked if you have.

Set up Google Reviews

Paste your Google Review link so review requests and report cards point straight at your Google review page. When a client rates their experience 4 or 5 stars on their report card, Petboost suggests they leave a Google review and pre-writes a personalised review for them to copy.

  1. Open Launch Petboost and go to Set Up Google Reviews.
  2. Paste the URL into Your Google Review Link.
  3. Select Save.

Review your transferred appointments

Review the upcoming appointments Petboost transferred from your go-live date onwards against your old system. Tell us anything that is missing or wrong and we correct it before go-live. If you prefer to enter appointments yourself, that is always available. Historical appointments do not need to move.

  1. Open Launch Petboost and go to Review your transferred appointments.
  2. Review the list. Optional: select Go to Appointments to open the calendar.
  3. Select I've reviewed my appointments.

On the go-live date, stop taking new bookings in the old system so appointments are not changing in two places. Finish any appointment that already sits in the old system there if you need to. From that day, Petboost is the source of truth.

Import package credits

If your business sells pre-paid packages and customers have outstanding credits from your old system, Import Package Credits reminds you to raise it during your account review call. The Petboost team handles package credit imports during the call. Select I'll raise this in my review call to complete the step. It only appears if your business has packages set up.

Finish the wizard

Once every step is completed or skipped, select Finish & Go to Mission Control to complete the launch process. All pending onboarding flags are resolved and you are redirected to Mission Control.

Skip Launch Setup closes the wizard at any time and takes you to Mission Control. Launch Petboost then leaves the sidebar, but the wizard still opens at Launch Petboost.

Common questions

Can I come back to the wizard later?

Yes. Launch Petboost stays in the sidebar until you finish or skip the setup, and your progress is saved automatically. After that, open it at Launch Petboost.

What if I have already imported my data?

The wizard detects existing data and leaves out completed steps. Once any pet exists in Petboost, the Import Data step is removed.

How much notice do I need to go live?

About 7 days. That avoids running two booking systems and appointments changing in both. If you can review your transferred appointments quickly, 24-48 hours is enough.

Should I activate my paid plan now?

Yes, when you pick the go-live date. A paid plan turns on online bookings and SMS reminders. Then work through the checklist at Launch Petboost.

Do I have to complete every step?

No. Every step can be skipped. Completing the go-live date, the client email, the appointments, and turning the old booking path off is what makes the switch clean.

Is the Launch Wizard available on trial plans?

During a trial, Launch Petboost shows a preview of the Launch Kit. The full wizard unlocks after upgrading to a paid plan.
