Review requests are always manual: you decide customer by customer who to ask. Every request uses your business-wide Google Review URL, or a Google search for your business when none is set.
Set your Google Review URL
A one-off setup that makes every review request (SMS, email or Report Card) point straight at your Google review form, skipping the search step.
- Open Branding.
- Under Social Media & Marketing, find Google Review URL. Optional: select How do I find this? for the steps below.
- On Google, search for your business and find your Google Business Profile panel.
- Select Ask for reviews (or Get more reviews) and copy the review URL shown in the popup.
- Paste it into Google Review URL. A green Set badge appears once the link is valid.
- Select Publish Changes, tick the box in Before You Publish, then select Publish Changes.
The field accepts two formats:
https://g.page/r/<yourBusinessCode>/review, the short link from Google Business Profilehttps://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=<yourPlaceId>, the long-form variant
A link copied from the Google Maps address bar will not save, and the field shows Please enter a valid Google Review URL. If the URL is set, every request uses it. If not, Petboost falls back to a Google search for your business name and billing address, which still gets customers to your profile but costs them an extra tap.
Ask for a review from an appointment
Ask from the booking itself, once the visit has started.
- Open the appointment from Appointments. Its status must be In Progress, Completed, Ready to Pay or Paid.
- Open Manage, then Google Reviews.
- Select Send Google Review SMS to text your review link, or Send Google Review Email to copy a review request to your clipboard.
- For an email, paste the request into your own email app and send it, then select Mark as Sent in Track Review Request to record it.
The email request includes your Google review link and a suggested review. SMS review requests need the Communications Booster add-on, and without it Send Google Review SMS does not appear in the menu. Email review requests are included on all paid plans.
Ask for a review from the customer's profile
- Open Customers & Pets and choose the customer.
- Open Manage Owner.
- Select Text Review Request or Email Review Request.
Text Review Request appears when the customer has a mobile number. Once a request has gone, the menu shows SMS Review Sent or Email Review Sent, and a badge beside the customer's name shows which requests are out. Sending the text again asks you to confirm it first.
Report Card star rating
When the pet owner opens a Report Card (grooming visit, daycare day, training session), the Share Your Experience section near the end asks how their pet's visit was, with five stars:
- 4 or 5 stars: the owner sees Leave a Google Review. It copies a suggested review, written for the service category, to their clipboard and opens your Google review page
- 1 to 3 stars: the owner sees Message followed by your business name, which opens a text to your business mobile, or an email to your business address if your number is not a mobile. The button appears only when your business has a phone number or email. Petboost does not store the rating
Sending a Report Card is manual. The owner can also open it, star rating included, with View Full Report Card in the pet owner app once the appointment has started and you have added Customer-facing Notes or photos.
What customers see
Whichever path you use, the message greets the customer by first name, names the pet, thanks them for the visit and ends with your review link. The SMS sends as a fixed template. The email text is copied for you to paste into your own email app, where you can add a personal note before you send it.
FAQ
Does Petboost automatically ask customers for reviews?
No. Review requests are always manual, sent from an appointment's Manage menu, the customer's profile, or a Report Card. You pick which customers to ask.
Can I customise the review request message?
The SMS template is fixed and always includes the pet name, business name and review link. The email request is copied to your clipboard, so you can edit it in your email app before you send it.
What if I don't have a Google Business Profile?
You can still send Report Cards, but the "leave a review" link won't take customers anywhere useful. Create a Google Business Profile first (free, about 10 minutes), verify it, then paste your review URL into Petboost.
Will customers get multiple review requests for the same visit?
Only if you send more than one. Petboost doesn't auto-repeat requests, so you can follow up an SMS with an email without worrying about duplicates.
