Petboost applies the rate to matching bookings automatically and shows it to the customer before they confirm. A rate is either a percentage of the service price or a fixed amount, carries a customer-facing label in your own words, and applies to every service or only the services you select.
Where to set each kind of rate
| Scope | Where to set it |
|---|---|
| A public holiday | Public Holidays page. Set one policy rate across all holidays, or a different rate on any individual holiday. |
| A weekday (every Saturday, every Sunday) | Settings > Business Details > Hours, in the Weekday rates section. |
| A date range (school holidays, Christmas week) | Settings > Business Details > Hours, in the Special Dates section. |
To advertise a rate on your public showcase page before customers start a booking, turn on Advertise this rate on your showcase page. It shows the rate on your showcase hours card. The booking form always shows the rate on the date, whatever you choose here.
Set a weekday rate
Charge a different rate on one day of the week, such as every Saturday. Public holidays and special dates take priority on their dates.
- Open Opening hours.
- Under Weekday rates, switch on the day.
- Under Type, choose Percentage or Fixed amount, then enter the amount.
- Edit Label, the name customers see, such as "Weekend rate".
- Optional: under Applies to services, choose the services the rate applies to. Leave it empty to apply the rate to all services.
- Optional: switch Advertise this rate on your showcase page on or off.
- Select Publish Changes, tick the box in Before You Publish, then select Publish Changes.
A new rate starts as a 25% Percentage named "Special rate", on all services, advertised on your showcase page. The label is shown to customers, so avoid naming fees, card processing or Petboost in it. The day shows the rate as an amber badge once it is set.
Set a rate for a date range
Charge a different rate across a date range, such as a Christmas break or the school holidays, with or without different opening hours.
- Open Opening hours.
- Under Special Dates, select Add Special Dates.
- Choose the Start Date and End Date.
- Optional: enter a Label, such as "Christmas Break".
- Switch on Special pricing, then set the Type, the amount, the Label customers see and Applies to services.
- Select Add Special Dates.
- Select Publish Changes, tick the box in Before You Publish, then select Publish Changes.
The hours in the dialog start as your usual weekly hours. If every day is off, These dates will show as closed warns you, and Use usual hours puts your normal hours back. If the range includes a public holiday, Public holidays keep their own rate says so.
Set a public holiday rate
Set one rate for every public holiday, and give any holiday its own rate if it needs one.
- Open Public Holidays.
- If the holidays are not listed, choose your state or territory and select Fetch Public Holidays.
- Switch on Holiday pricing, then set the Type, the amount, the Label and Applies to services. It applies to every holiday below unless the holiday sets its own.
- Optional: to give one holiday its own rate, switch on Custom pricing in its row and set the rate. Edit changes it later.
- Select Apply Holidays, then, in Apply Public Holidays, select the Apply button that names the number of holidays, such as Apply 3 Holidays.
The rate is saved with your holiday hours when you apply them. For closing on a holiday and the rest of this page, see Public holidays.
Which rate applies on a date
One rate applies per date. Rates never stack.
- If the date has a public holiday rule, that rule decides. A holiday rule with no rate set means no rate applies that date, even inside a priced date range.
- Otherwise, if the date falls inside a special dates override, that override decides.
- Otherwise, the weekday rate for that day of the week applies, if one is set.
A Saturday that is also a public holiday takes the holiday rate, not the Saturday rate.
How bookings are charged
For a regular appointment, the rate for the appointment date applies once, to the matching service lines. A percentage computes on the service subtotals before any membership discount, so member pricing never shrinks the amount. Add-ons are never charged a rate.
Stays charge per night
An overnight stay charges the rate night by night:
- Each night takes the rate for the date it starts. The night of 24 December into 25 December takes 24 December's rate.
- On Number of nights and Duration-based, the checkout date is never charged. A pickup morning adds nothing. On Number of days, the departure day is charged and takes its own date's rate.
- A same-day stay (day boarding, and each visit of a recurring stay) takes its own date's rate as a single unit.
- A fixed amount charges per night, per service.
- A percentage on a multi-night stay is worked out on the average nightly rate for the stay (the stay price divided by its nights).
A stay across two named holidays shows two named lines in the total, one per holiday. Several nights inside one date range show a single line for that range.
Course lesson appointments are never charged a rate: a course is a fixed-price product paid as a whole.
What the customer sees
On Regular bookings, dates that carry a rate are marked on the 14-day grid. Under the grid, Petboost shows the system wording plus the rate, for example Saturday pricing +$10 per service. If you advertised the rate, the label is added in parentheses, for example (Weekend rate).
On Stay bookings, both check-in and check-out pickers mark priced dates. Under the pickers, Petboost shows the rate for the check-in night. The stay date-step total lists each named holiday or special-period line with its badge and includes those amounts, so it matches the review total.
At review and afterwards, the same named lines appear, for example Public holiday pricing (Christmas Day) or Saturday pricing. The line is named from the rate's kind, never from internal wording. A stay line that covers more than one night also names those nights, for example 2 nights (24 Dec, 25 Dec).
Bookings made before a rate change
Editing a rate never reprices an existing unpaid booking on its own. The booking keeps the amounts it was booked with through invoicing, payment links, payment method changes, membership apply or revoke, and any save that does not change the booking's dates, times, or services. A price-only edit also keeps the booked holiday amount.
Changing the booking's dates, times, or services reprices holiday and weekday amounts against current rates.
This also covers advance bookings that you do not edit: a stay booked in October for the Christmas peak keeps its booked price even if you change the rate in November.
Deposits
A deposit taken at booking is worked out from the service totals only. Petboost then collects the holiday and weekday amounts in full with the deposit, never more than the booking total. For example, a 30% deposit on a stay with a Christmas rate collects 30% of the service totals plus the whole holiday amount.
