Each fee serves a different purpose and is paid to a different party. Your specific rates depend on your plan and account configuration, and Billing shows them.
The three fee buckets
Stripe processing fee
Paid to Stripe, not Petboost. This is the standard Australian card processing rate that Stripe charges for every online card payment. Stripe also charges a processing fee on card reader (in-person) payments.
Petboost booking fee
Petboost's transaction fee on card payments processed through Stripe Connect. The rate varies by plan. This fee also applies to card reader (in-person) payments.
Calendar Lite does not include payment processing, so this fee does not apply.
Card surcharge
From 1 October 2026, card surcharging is banned in Australia on eftpos, Visa and Mastercard debit, prepaid and credit cards. Pass Stripe fee to customer and Pass platform fee to customer on Pricing & Payments add the fees to invoices paid by card, as Card Processing Fee and Booking Fee lines. See Build fees into your prices.
Check your plan and fees
Do this to see what your account pays.
- Open Billing and choose Plan & Power-Ups.
- On your plan card, read Monthly Plan Fee, Petboost Transaction Fee and Stripe Payment Processing Fees.
The same card shows your subscription status. Your card processing and booking fee rates also show beside Pass Stripe fee to customer and Pass platform fee to customer on Pricing & Payments.
See the fees taken from a payout
Do this when a payout into your bank is less than the card sales behind it.
- Open Stripe Payouts.
- Under Payout History, select a payout to open it.
- Read Card sales, Refunds, Stripe processing fees and Petboost booking fees, above Net transferred.
- To see the rates behind one payment, select Show breakdown on it.
The two fee lines are separate because two different companies charge them.
Subscription waiver
Process enough card payments in a billing month and the next month's plan fee is waived. The booking fee still applies. Your waiver threshold depends on your plan.
External payments (cash, bank transfer, and payments not processed through Petboost) do not count towards the waiver threshold.
Check your waiver progress
Do this to see how close you are to this month's threshold.
- Open Billing and choose Overview.
- Read Card Payment Volume, which shows this billing month's card payments against your threshold.
When you reach it, the card reads Threshold reached. Next month waived. Until then it shows how much more you need before the billing month ends.
Launch period
Your launch period runs from the day you sign up, for the number of days set on your plan. During it there is no Petboost booking fee. While it lasts, Petboost Transaction Fee on Billing reads Waived with the days remaining, and Pricing & Payments shows a Waived badge with the days remaining beside Pass platform fee to customer.
Stripe card readers
Petboost supports Stripe card readers for in-person card payments. New readers are the Stripe Reader S700, and a WisePOS E you already own keeps working with Petboost. Card reader payments carry Stripe's in-person processing fee and the same Petboost booking fee as online card payments.
Existing bank EFTPOS terminals cannot be connected to Petboost. Businesses can continue using their own terminal for walk-in payments alongside Petboost.
Ask the team about a charge
Do this when you have a question about a specific charge.
- Open Billing and select Get Help.
- Select Speak with the team.
- Under How urgent?, choose how much it is affecting you.
- Describe the charge under What are you trying to do? and What's happening instead?.
- Select Send to the team.
Opening Get Help from Billing adds a Page chip to the request, so the team can see where the question came from. You can remove it before you send.
