When a customer pays, the money does not reach your bank straight away. Stripe holds it for a processing period, then pays it out on the schedule set in your Stripe account, and Stripe Payouts reads that schedule back to you. If Stripe is not connected, the page shows Stripe Not Connected, and Connect Stripe opens Pricing & Payments.
How payouts work
Your Money & Payouts, at the top of Stripe Payouts, draws the four stages a payment moves through:
| Stage | What happens | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Pays | Card charged, payment confirmed | Instant |
| Stripe Holds | Funds held securely by Stripe | Immediate |
| Processing | Standard banking processing | Rolling, typically 2 days |
| Your Bank | Money deposited to your account | Based on your payout schedule |
The page names your account's processing days in the third stage, such as 2-day Processing.
Rolling basis (not batched)
Stripe processes payouts on a rolling basis, not in batches. Each payment is tracked on its own through the 2-day processing window, payments do not wait to be grouped with other payments, and money flows continuously as it becomes available.
For example, if you receive payments on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday:
- Monday's payments arrive Wednesday
- Tuesday's payments arrive Thursday
- Wednesday's payments arrive Friday
To learn more, read Stripe's Payout Schedules FAQ.
Where your money is
At any point, your funds are in one of three places. Each is a tile on Stripe Payouts:
| Tile | What it means |
|---|---|
| Available to Payout | Money that has finished the processing period, ready to be sent to your bank in the next scheduled payout |
| Still Processing | Money within your account's processing window, typically 2 days. It becomes available once processing completes |
| On its way to your bank | Money that has left Stripe. It shows as In Transit under Payout History |
Heading to your bank, under the tiles, adds all three together: your money that has not landed in your bank yet, net of fees. Available and still processing together are your total funds held by Stripe.
If a payment is not in your bank yet, check these three tiles first.
Payout schedule
Your payout schedule decides when Stripe sends available funds to your bank. Your Payout Schedule on the page shows yours, for example Daily (2-day delay).
| Schedule | How it works | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Daily | Payouts every business day | Most businesses (recommended) |
| Weekly | Payouts once per week on a set day | Simpler bookkeeping |
| Monthly | Payouts once per month on a set date | Specific accounting needs |
If your Stripe account is set to manual payouts, the schedule reads Manual and You choose when Stripe pays you.
Daily cutoff time
Payments must be captured before the daily cutoff time to be included in the next day's payout batch. The exact cutoff varies by country, typically around 5pm local time. Daily Cutoff Time on the page shows your account's cutoff in your local time.
For example, in Australia with a 5pm cutoff:
- A payment at 4:30pm Monday is included in Tuesday's processing and arrives Wednesday
- A payment at 5:30pm Monday is included in Wednesday's processing and arrives Thursday
Weekend and holiday delays
Banks don't process transfers on weekends or public holidays.
| Scenario | What happens |
|---|---|
| Payout falls on Saturday | Arrives Monday |
| Payout falls on Sunday | Arrives Monday |
| Payout falls on public holiday | Arrives next business day |
| Friday after cutoff | Included in Monday's batch, and arrives Wednesday |
Your Next Payout shows the date the next payout will actually arrive, accounting for weekends and holidays. When a weekend or holiday pushes it back, the card reads Weekend/Holiday Delay instead.
Change your bank account or payout schedule
Change where your payouts go, or how often they come, in your Stripe Dashboard. Bank account changes are made in Stripe, not in Petboost.
- Open Stripe Payouts.
- On Where Stripe pays you, select Change in Stripe. Your Stripe Dashboard payout settings open.
- Add a new bank account, update the existing details, or change the payout schedule.
Stripe may require verification for a new bank account.
What the bank account card shows
Where Stripe pays you shows the bank account Stripe sends your money to:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Bank name | Your bank, for example Commonwealth Bank, ANZ |
| Account number | The last 4 digits (••••1234) |
| BSB | The bank-state-branch routing number |
| Currency | AUD for Australian accounts |
| Account holder | The name, and the type (individual/company) |
| Status | A badge for the verification status |
The status badge reads:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Verified | Bank account confirmed, payouts will succeed |
| Verification Failed | Bank details couldn't be verified, check and retry |
| Error | Issue with the account, contact Stripe support |
A newly added account shows no badge while Stripe verifies it.
View the transactions in a payout
Open a payout when you need the sales, fee and bank figures behind a deposit, for example when the bank paid you less than you invoiced.
- Open Stripe Payouts.
- Under Payout History, select the payout.
- Check the summary: Card sales, Refunds, Other adjustments, Stripe processing fees, Petboost booking fees and Net transferred.
- Optional: on a transaction, select Open Appointment to open the booking in Petboost, or View in Stripe to open the payment in your Stripe Dashboard.
Card sales is the gross card charges in the payout. Refunds shows only when the payout includes a refund, and Other adjustments only when there is one. Net transferred is the amount that arrived in your bank, or is expected to.
Each transaction under the summary shows the pet, the owner, the service, the Stripe fee, the Petboost fee and the net. Show breakdown on a transaction names the two fee rates on your plan. A payment that is not tied to a booking, such as a membership payment, has View in Wallet instead of Open Appointment. On a payout of more than 2,000 transactions, the sales and fee lines are hidden and the net is still the full bank amount: open it in Stripe for the full list.
The collapsed row shows the payout amount, which is the net transferred, its status, the date it Arrived or is Expected, when it was Initiated, and View in Stripe for the whole payout. The payout amount will not match Reporting & Intelligence sales for the same calendar day, because payouts use a rolling 2-day schedule.
Money not yet in a payout sits in a Still Processing row at the top of Payout History, with the number of payments and the date they are expected to arrive by. Select it to see the same summary, ending in Net after fees. Load More Payouts at the foot of the list shows older payouts.
Payout statuses
| Status | Badge colour | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | Blue | Scheduled but not yet initiated |
| In Transit | Amber | On the way to your bank |
| Paid | Green | Successfully deposited |
| Failed | Red | Payout failed (rare) |
| Cancelled | Grey | Payout was cancelled |

Common questions
Why hasn't my payment arrived yet?
Check these in order.
- Open Stripe Payouts and check whether the payment was taken after the Daily Cutoff Time. Payments after the cutoff go to the next day's batch.
- Check whether the payout falls on a weekend or public holiday. Banks don't process on non-business days.
- Check whether the payout shows In Transit. It is on its way, typically 1 to 2 business days.
- Check the status of your bank account on Where Stripe pays you.
How do I get paid faster?
Stripe's processing time, typically 2 days, is standard for Australia and cannot be reduced. You can still capture payments before the daily cutoff, use the daily payout schedule rather than weekly or monthly, and keep your bank account verified and in good standing.
Why is my payout smaller than expected?
Your payout is the net amount after Stripe processing fees, Petboost booking fees and any refunds.
Select the payout to see the breakdown: Card sales, Refunds, Other adjustments, Stripe processing fees, Petboost booking fees and Net transferred, then each transaction inside it.
For the fee rates that apply to your plan, see Understanding your fees.
Can I request an instant payout?
Stripe offers Instant Payouts in some regions. Petboost does not support them. Standard payouts with the 2-day processing period are used.
What if a payout fails?
Payout failures are rare, but can happen if the bank account details are incorrect, the account has been closed, or the bank rejects the deposit. A failed payout shows Failed, with Stripe's reason or This payout did not reach your bank.
If a payout fails, the funds return to your Stripe balance and Stripe retries. Check your bank account details in your Stripe Dashboard.
Where can I see Stripe's fees?
Fees are shown in two places: on each payment inside a payout, and in your Stripe Dashboard's full reporting and analytics.
