Pets at a time is not a daily cap. With 3 places, 3 pets can be in your care at once, and many more can come and go through the day.
Worked example
With Pets at a time set to 3, a session from 9am to 12pm and services that take an hour each:
| Start time | Pets starting | Places in use |
|---|---|---|
| 9:00 am | 3 | 3 of 3 |
| 10:00 am | 3 | 3 of 3 |
| 11:00 am | 3 | 3 of 3 |
That is about 9 dogs served, and never more than 3 at any moment: three rotations of three. The limit is about what you are handling right now, not how many come through the door.
Why there is no daily maximum setting
Petboost has no "max pets per day" number, because:
- Your throughput depends on service length. A 30-minute bath and tidy means more rotations than a 2-hour full groom
- It changes from day to day. Tuesdays might be all long services with fewer pets, and Fridays quick services with more
- Pets at a time already controls it. Combined with session length and service duration, the daily total follows
If you need a hard daily cap, which is rare, shorten the session or lower pets at a time until the numbers give you the total you want.
Change how many pets you take at a time
Capacity is never locked in. Change it when you hire a team member, add a station, or want to try taking more dogs on one day.
- Open Team Members and select Manage on the team member.
- Choose Capacity.
- Set Pets at a Time.
- Select Publish Changes, tick the box in Before You Publish, then select Publish Changes.
The change applies to new bookings as soon as you publish it. Existing bookings are not affected.
For a room, pen, van or other resource, set Pets at a Time on the resource's Capacity on Resources. To give one session its own number, set Pets at a time on that session in Schedules & Sessions. A session left empty uses the team member's or resource's number.
