One business raised its prices and expected the hundreds of bookings already in its diary to follow. They did not, and once a rise has landed, only the screen in the last section moves them.
Where the edit lives
- Open the booking from Appointments and select Manage.
- Choose Edit, or on a recurring booking Edit this visit only or Edit all future visits.
- Change the time, the team member, the services or the add-ons.
- Answer Notify customer?, then select Update This Appointment, or Update All Future Appointments for the series.
The time, the team member, the service and its add-ons are all changed from Manage, and Edit reopens the same form the booking was made on. A recurring booking splits that one entry in two, and the choice is the whole decision: Edit this visit only leaves the rest of the series where it is, Edit all future visits carries the change forward from this date.
Tip
What a booking costs is not changed from here. That happens on its invoice, under How Much on the same page's Appointment tab.
Override a price on one booking
- Open the booking from Appointments and scroll to How Much on its Appointment tab.
- Type over the Price on a line.
- Answer Notify customer?, then select Save Changes.
Type over the Price on a line and its border turns orange. That figure now belongs to this booking and to nothing else, and your catalogue has not moved. Add Item puts another service, add-on or product on the same pet.
Save Changes stays disabled until you answer Notify customer?.
| Choice | What the client gets |
|---|---|
| Send notification | An email and a text with a link to the booking |
| Update silently | Nothing |
Tip
Preview message shows the text first. It names the pet and links the booking rather than itemising what changed, so if the number matters, say it yourself.
A price rise stops at your catalogue
Raising a price in Services changes what the next booking costs. Every booking already confirmed keeps the price it was confirmed at, which is how a diary ends up full of last year's rates. The Fixed Amount and Percentage wizards do ask about this at the moment you change a price, and their default answer is New bookings only.
- Open the Pricing Assistant and select Review Bookings on Update Existing Bookings.
- Set Check bookings from, and tick the Appointment statuses to include.
- Optional: tick Notify customers by email & SMS.
- Tick the box under Before you apply, then select the Update button, which counts the bookings.
Update Existing Bookings on the Pricing Assistant is where you move them afterwards, and it never runs on its own. Read the number on the button rather than the list above it: a recurring series counts once and carries to every future occurrence, and paid, prepaid and cancelled bookings were excluded before the list was built.
Tip
To start a rise on a date, change the catalogue price now and set Check bookings from to that date. Anything before it keeps the old price and is not even counted.
Price increases are always in. The other three rows each wait for a tick, because the first time you run this you are usually correcting one thing rather than four.
