Release or cancel a pre-authorisation hold

A hold is not a charge. Releasing it hands the money back, and the client's bank clears it inside a day.

Releasing a pre-authorisation lets go of the money held on the client's card without charging any of it.

  1. Open the booking from Appointments.
  2. On the green banner, which reads the held amount and pre-authorised, select Release.
  3. In Release pre-authorisation?, select Release hold.

The money goes back onto the card and is available within 1-24 hours, depending on the card issuer. Nothing else on the booking moves, so you can still charge it at checkout the usual way. Keep hold backs out without touching anything, and if you let go too early, the Re-auth button on the amber banner places a fresh hold for the current total, as long as the booking has not already ended.
