Charge a cancellation fee

The choice only appears once the booking is past its notice period, and the amount comes from the service's policy.

Cancelling a booking later than its notice period allows asks whether to charge the service's cancellation fee or waive it.

  1. Open the booking from Appointments.
  2. Open Manage beside the booking's status and select Cancel.
  3. Under Charge customer a cancellation fee?, choose Charge Cancellation Fee or Waive Cancellation Fee.
  4. If the client has no card on file, choose a method under How do you want to collect the fee?.
  5. Answer Notify customer?, then select Cancel Appointment.
  6. Read the confirmation, then select its button, which names the amount, or Waive fee & cancel for a waiver.

The question only appears when the service has a fee and the booking is already past its notice period, because inside the free window there is nothing to charge. The amount on each option is the same figure: orange is what you take, and the struck-through green is what you are giving up. With a card on file the confirmation reads Confirm cancellation fee charge and the money moves as you finish. With no card the fee still applies, and you choose how to collect it, which is why the dialog says Confirm cancellation fee instead.

Check

On a booking with a deposit, the fee is taken from the deposit only. The confirmation reads Confirm deposit forfeit: it keeps the fee from the deposit and refunds the rest to the client's card.
