A Stripe card reader paired with your account travels with you, so a payment on the road is taken the same way as one at the counter.
- Open Settings, then Pricing & Payments.
- Switch on Advanced options and find In-Person Payments.
- If no reader is on the account yet, select Activate In-person Payments to order one from Stripe's hardware shop.
In-Person Payments only appears once Stripe is connected. With no reader on the account the card is an offer; with one paired it becomes a record of which reader belongs to which site. The card labels every paired reader WisePOS E Terminal, but Stripe has stopped selling that model: a new order is a Stripe Reader S700, and a WisePOS E you already own keeps working. Either runs on Wi-Fi rather than a cable, so it goes in the van as long as it has a network to join. Once it is paired, taking payment is one choice on the booking, Card Reader under Payment Method and then Take in-person Payment, and the receipt emails itself.
Trap
The Online badge follows the account's in-person payments setting, not the reader's signal, so a reader that has dropped off the network still reads as online here.
