Switching from Scout for Pets

Take your customers and pets out of Scout and load them into Petboost from Customers & Pets, or hand the whole move to us.

Scout exports from Settings, then Export, near the bottom of the menu, which gives you your customer, staff and pet data as CSV files. It takes an owner or administrator login, and appointments are not part of it. Export before you cancel: on a prepaid annual plan, cancelling early ends your access to Scout straight away.

1. Open Customers & Pets, open the gear menu and select Import Customers & Pets.
2. Select Magic CSV Import.
3. Add the customer file and the pet file under CSV Files (1-2 files), then select Magic Validate.
4. Read anything listed under Errors or Skipped, then select Import to Petboost.

The import takes CSV files only, and an owner needs a first name, a phone number and at least one pet, or the row is left out and listed under Errors or Skipped. The Import Your Data step of the Launch wizard leads to the same import through Import Customers & Pets, but only before the first client is in, and not during a trial.

On an assisted migration you can skip the export. Scout loads your whole book into the browser when you sign in, so we read it from there without asking Scout's servers for anything extra. Labels on a pet arrive as attributes, so a Bites when handled note becomes something a booking rule can read rather than a line you hope someone spots. Only a clear statement becomes one, though: a dog whose owner ticked no for cats because it has never met one keeps that answer on its timeline without a warning attached.

Store credit lands on the owner's profile as Account Balance Credit, a figure the owner can see. Scout labels its weight field in pounds while an Australian book tends to hold a mix of pounds and kilograms, so no weight is written at all and the old figure goes on the pet's timeline instead, ready for you to confirm in kilograms at the next visit. The 24 hours starts when you give us access, usually at the demo, and the switching page lists what moves and what stays behind.
