Switching from Pet Pocketbook

Take your client reports out of Pet Pocketbook and load them into Petboost from Customers & Pets, or hand the whole move to us.

Pet Pocketbook exports from the Reports dashboard, which only opens on a desktop computer: go to the Clients tab and tap download, and the client reports arrive by email as CSV files. The one that lists each family, Clients by location, carries the contacts' names and emails, the address and the pets' names, and that is all it holds for a pet: no breed and none of the profile notes. Vaccinations are a separate download in the Vaccinations section. The reports default to the last three months, so check the range before you download.

1. Open Customers & Pets, open the gear menu and select Import Customers & Pets.
2. Select Magic CSV Import.
3. Add the file under CSV Files (1-2 files), then select Magic Validate.
4. Read anything listed under Errors or Skipped, then select Import to Petboost.

The import takes CSV files only. It reads the dogs from a column headed Pet or Pets in a single file, or from a second file of pets, and an owner needs a first name, a phone number and at least one pet, or the row is left out and listed under Errors or Skipped. The Import Your Data step of the Launch wizard leads to the same import through Import Customers & Pets, but only before the first client is in, and not during a trial.

On an assisted migration you can skip the downloads. We take what Pet Pocketbook's reports give us and read the rest from your account where we can. Each family arrives as an owner with its pets, and with no breed in the file, a pet comes across as Mixed Breed until you set it. The labels you kept on a client or a pet arrive as attributes, and an attribute is the kind of label that can change a price or a duration.

Store credit lands on the owner's profile as Account Balance Credit, a figure the owner can see that never comes off a bill by itself. A part-used package keeps the credits that were left on it, and that count is worth checking against your old book before you go live. A membership keeps its next billing date. Cards cannot move, so each member adds theirs in Petboost before that date, or the membership ends. The 24 hours starts when you give us access, usually at the demo, and the switching page lists what moves and what stays behind.
