Switching from Gingr

Gingr icons become attributes, store credit and package credits stay apart, memberships keep their date, and you switch Gingr's own online booking off on go-live day.

Take your owner list out of Gingr and load it into Petboost from Customers & Pets, or hand the whole move to us.

In Gingr, open Owners and Pets, then View All Owners, and choose Export to CSV at the top right. Clear every filter and search first, because the export only holds the rows the list is showing, and on a business with more than one location it only covers the locations your login is allowed to see. The file is an owner list. Each dog appears only as a name in its Animals column, and the one vaccination report Gingr offers lists only the expired and missing ones.

  1. Open Customers & Pets, open the gear menu and select Import Customers & Pets.
  2. Select Magic CSV Import.
  3. Add the file under CSV Files (1-2 files), then select Magic Validate.
  4. Read anything listed under Errors or Skipped, then select Import to Petboost.

The import takes CSV files only. It reads the dogs from a column headed Pet or Pets in a single file, or from a second file of pets, and an owner needs a first name, a phone number and at least one pet, or the row is left out and listed under Errors or Skipped. The Import Your Data step of the Launch wizard leads to the same import through Import Customers & Pets, but only before the first client is in, and not during a trial.

On an assisted migration more comes across than the file holds. The icons Gingr keeps on an animal and on an owner come across as attributes, which in Petboost are the labels a booking rule can read. Store credit lands on the owner's profile as Account Balance Credit while package credits stay counted on the package, because one of them is money and the other is visits held, and netting the two hides one. A membership keeps its next billing date. Cards cannot move, so each member adds theirs in Petboost before that date, or the membership ends.

We read that book through Gingr's API rather than the export, pets, photos and vaccination certificates included. An admin switches on Can Access API and Can Export / Backup Data under System & Data in the admin group's permissions, both off until someone turns them on, and shares the API key from their profile. The 24 hours starts when you give us that access, usually at the demo. The switching page lists what moves and what stays behind.

On go-live day you switch your own online booking off in Gingr, in Admin Settings under Location Info, and the bookings already sitting in there can finish where they are.

Tip

To hand the move to us instead, select We move it for you in 24 hours at step 2.
