Client experience and retention

Design the housekeeping section of your booking emails

A custom section replaces the plain Pre-Appointment Message box in confirmation and reminder emails with one you design, for what to bring, where to park and how to get ready.

The housekeeping section is the part of your confirmation and reminder emails that says what to bring and where to park. You can design it with headings, pictures and buttons, and clients keep seeing the plain box until you publish.

  1. Open Notifications. If Custom Messages is not on screen, switch on Advanced options.
  2. Under How it looks in booking emails, select Custom section. The designer opens.
  3. Pick a starting point, or Start from scratch. Your banner, upgraded starts from the message you send today.
  4. To add a block, select Add under the last block, or the + between two blocks.
  5. To put the client's name, the pet's name or the booking time in the text, select Booking detail and choose one.
  6. Select Preview to see the section inside a real confirmation, on a computer or a phone.
  7. Select Publish, read Housekeeping only, then select Confirm and publish.

Your changes save as a draft while you work, and only Publish changes what clients receive. Back on Notifications, Your custom section shows In use once clients receive it, and Changes not published while the draft differs. To go back, select Banner; your section is kept for later.

Trap

It is for housekeeping only. Confirmation and reminder emails have no unsubscribe link, so under the Spam Act 2003 they must stick to the facts about the booking. Offers, discounts, new services, gift cards and referral asks are not allowed in it, and Petboost points out words that read like an offer before you publish.

Check

Texts and the owner's booking card always use the Pre-Appointment Message text, because a text cannot show a design. A picture needs a description in Describe the picture before you can publish.
